Under the authority of the Chief of the Defence Staff, the French Cyber Command (COMCYBER) is an operational command that brings together all of the cyber defence forces under a joint forces authority. Since 2017, its mission has been to defend the information systems of the French Ministry of Defence, and to design, plan and conduct military operations in cyberspace. The French National Cyber Security Agency (ANSSI) is the national authority for cyber security and cyber defence. Its action aims to build and organize the protection of the nation from cyber attacks. Attached to the General Secretary for Defence and National Security (SGDSN), the agency reports to the Prime Minister. ANSSI, whose activities are exclusively defensive, mainly addresses three types of beneficiaries, which are the public administration, the operators of critical national infrastructures (OIV) and the operators of essential services (OSE).
